As the Leader for Road Flex Teams (RFTs) within the Road Flex Operation (RFO) you will be responsible for creating work schedules and efficient routes. You will act as the subject matter expert for a variety of tasks such as driver paperwork, break down and accident repair procedures, safety, and coordination with departments such as Line Haul, Maintenance, Safety, and corporate departments as needed Your leadership and direction will improve the accuracy and timeliness of Road flex operations, helping us to deliver world-class customer service. What you’ll do on a typical day: 

  • Sets work schedules and efficient routes for RFTs while monitoring hours of service and other requirements; coordinates alternative coverage plans for PTO, bereavement, and absences. 
  • Acts as a point of contact and escalation for RFTs, providing dispatch information, route conditions, detour guidance, and other issues.   
  • Communicates with service center leadership regarding RFT dispatch and arrival helping to ensure that loads are ready to minimize downtime. 
  • Prepares reports and other documents for management regarding schedules, maintenance, other reports as needed. 
  • Acts as the primary point of contact for delays and accidents involving Safety and fueling.
  • Acts as the primary point of contact for service center leadership, Maintenance, and HR as appropriate to resolve issues.
  • Support Linehaul Network Operations as needed.
  • Ensures all DOT, compliance, and safety requirements are adhered to, properly reported, and issues are addressed.
  • Establishes relationships with RFTs to maintain an inclusive culture and escalates any issues to management or HR for guidance/resolution.

What you need to succeed at XPO: 

At a minimum, you’ll need: 

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent related work or military experience  
  • 3 years of related work experience, including leadership experience in transportation or a related field 
  • Strong working knowledge of freight movement systems, methodologies, and procedures 
  • Ability to work in a 4-day, 11.5-hour per day schedule, Friday - Tuesday and must be flexibile in start time and end time

It’d be great if you also have: 

  • 5 years of relevant experience or Master’s degree in supply chain, logistics, or business administration 
  • Availability to work a variety of shifts, including days, evenings, nights, and weekends 
  • Working knowledge of the less-than-truckload industry 
  • Solid analytical skills 
  • Experience with dispatching drivers, fleet, or service center supervision.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; able to motivate and influence team members
