HGV Technician (Nights)

Here at GXO, we’re working together with Waitrose and are currently looking for a VMU Technician to join our team in Brinklow, Milton Keynes. As a HGV Mechanic, you’ll be responsible for maintaining a large fleet of heavy goods vehicles in line with VOSA standards and regulations, delivering reactive and preventative maintenance.

 

You’ll be working 40 hours per week on a two-week rotating shift pattern, covering Sunday to Thursday and Monday to Friday, 22:00 – 06:00.

What you’ll do on a typical day:

 

  • Complete services to agreed standards, ensuring that vehicles are safe and legal at all times
  • Ensure inspections are carried out in accordance with the current inspection sheet in a timely manner and productivity targets are achieved
  • Ensure job cards are opened, signed, closed, and entered onto the Maintenance system
  • Deal with all at the door reported defects promptly and liaise with the Transport office should vehicles be departing late
  • Deal with any vehicle breakdowns that are called into the vehicle maintenance department by following the company call out procedure, keeping the Transport office updated

 

What you need to succeed at GXO:

 

  • NVQ level 3 or City and guilds equivalent in Heavy Vehicle Engineering
  • Previous experience in Heavy Goods Vehicle maintenance
  • C+E driving license
  • IRTEC license or willingness to undertake
  • Flexible in your approach
