Director, Solutions Engineering

As the Director, Solutions Engineering you will develop solutions to improve efficiencies, reduce costs and increase revenue. The Solutions Engineering group will be responsible for the preparation of innovative, timely, professional solutions for consumer products industry clients' supply chain challenges. 

The Director, Solutions Engineering also plays a key role in contributing to the operational efficiency and financial success of the company through effective planning, execution, resource management and delivery of projects on time and budget. This role collaborates with all functional and client teams, including PMO, Engineering, Finance, IT, Proposal Operations and other business units both domestic and global. 

 

What you will do on a typical day: 

  • Responsible for Managing a team of typically full-time engineering and analytics employees; includes providing training, monitoring work quality, coaching employees on performance and contributing to employee pay decisions/ changes; responsible for the quality of results produced by the team. 

  • Deep understanding of a business function, processes, applications and key deliverables, Service Level Agreements 

  • Coach, mentor and develop staffs, including overseeing new onboarding and training needs of all transitions under Engineering & Analytical processes at GOSC 

  • Lead teams with diversified skills sets like Advanced/Warehouse Solutions, Labour Analytics Supply Chain Operations, L&D etc. at GOSC who support Supply Chain business units 

  • Develop value-added approach to consumer products supply chain challenges employing analysis, innovation and experience within the consumer products market. 

  • Understand the use of optimization/decision support tools such as CAPS Logistics Toolkit and/or i-Log suite of tools to perform global supply chain studies, routing optimization and transportation rate analyses. 

  • Interface as required with the client and various internal groups. 

  • Collaborate with and serve as a key business partner to SVPs and VPs for business segments (verticals). 

  • Ability to manage several projects to completion and prioritize project funnel in support of customer and site requirements 

  • Gather and interpret large volumes of operational data; detect emerging trends and integrate operational intel; develop detective controls and predictive indicator 

  • Set strategy, build budgets, update forecasts and determine targets; identify methods to monitor performance against assumptions 

  • Partner with HR, Account Management and Operations to set and track targets for pricing and wage increases; serve as a subject matter expert to uncover opportunities and highlight risks 

  • Lead analysis, strategic alignment and projects scoping to meet business objectives and deliver quantifiable results through process improvement initiatives. 

  • Assist with the month-end close process, functioning as a finance department liaison at site, customer and vertical operational levels; prepare senior management for and attend Monthly Operating Reviews (MOR) and weekly executive leadership meetings 

  • Utilize KPIs to ensure the success of initiatives related to operational performance, labour efficiencies, regional wage analysis, price, automation savings, other cost savings, predictability and forecast accuracy 

  • Provide value propositions by identifying opportunities through rigorous data collection and analysis; craft marketable solutions for clients 

  • Identify, propose and deliver key initiatives that improve the client's supply chain operations and/or drive efficiency into the team's internal processes 

  • Other duties as assigned 

 

Qualification, Experience & Skills

  • Master’s degree or equivalent related work from premier institute 

  • Overall, 15 years of experience with min. 7 years of supply chain experience in key functional areas: supply chain management, logistics, decision support systems/technology, distribution or procurement functional responsibilities 

  • Working in a capacity of Director for 2 years / Senior Manager for min. 4 years 

  • Experience in handling data analytics / science team and abreast with latest technologies / tools available in the industry 

  • Experience in data mining and generating simulations in Microsoft BI, Access and Excel to identify and scope opportunities within the customer's supply chain 

  • Strong project management skills 

  • Should have excellent interpersonal, organizational, written, verbal, and presentation skills along with good stakeholder management attributes 

 

It would be great if you also have:  

  • Master’s degree in supply chain, Logistics, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or other technical and/or analytical field 

  • Experience with ILOG, Supply Chain Guru, Appian or data modelling 

  • Lean six sigma experience 

  • SQL experience a plus 

  • Ability to conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
