VAT Specialist

Logistics done differently.


Here at GXO Logistics, we’re recruiting for a VAT Specialist to join our European tax team. You’ll focus on VAT compliance and reporting requirements for the GXO UK and Ireland groups and take on some wider tax governance responsibilities.  You will bring your VAT compliance experience from another in-house role to lead the VAT reporting activities and drive a well-controlled VAT compliance environment across the business. Your responsibilities will include VAT training, advice to other finance teams, support for projects such as new implementations and systems changes.

Pay, benefits and more:


We’re looking to offer a salary of up to £45,000 per annum plus a car allowance of £588.33 per month.  In addition, we offer 25 days holiday (plus bank holidays), as well as the option to buy additional days. What you’ll do on a typical day:


  • Preparation and submission of VAT returns, ESL, and Intrastat filings
  • Reconciliation of VAT accounts, managing outstanding balances and adjustments
  • Document, maintain and regularly review VAT compliance processes
  • Work with Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable teams to correct and improve quality of VAT data
  • Support the ongoing management of SOX and SAO testing
  • Support on tax governance activities, such as tax strategy, Senior Accounting Officer and Corporate Criminal Offence legislation
  • Stay up to date with developments in indirect taxes to identify risks and opportunities


What you need to succeed at GXO:


  • 3-5 years in-house experience in a similar role with a strong focus on VAT compliance
  • Experience of working with ERP systems to interrogate VAT data
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills to liaise with cross-functional teams and with external auditors
  • ATT / CTA qualifications (or working towards them) are desirable
