An Operations Manager (Pick Tower) is a management role responsible for planning, coordinating, supervising and reporting upon the work activities of the pick tower area.

WHAT YOU’LL DO ON A TYPICAL DAY

 

Financial

 

 

  • Contributing to the profitability of the organisation through the control of costs – resources.
  • Monitoring financial performance, implementing corrective actions where appropriate and maximising the contribution for XPO Logistics
  • Identifying and recommending business development opportunities
  • Ensuring operational plans are developed & implemented to ensure achievement of business objectives
  • Actively seeking to develop ideas that can reduce costs and increase revenue.
  • Weekly monitoring of contract profitability performance, ensuring correct chargers are applied

 

Customer

 

 

  • Delivering quality customer service by understanding the customers needs, processes and priorities
  • Developing & managing relationships with customers at all levels
  • Ensuring that the agreed SLAs are met and that the customer is kept fully informed about issues that affect contract performance
  • Supporting customer’s requirement to liaise with its customers and solve any supply chain or logistics problems
  • Exploring and developing new opportunities with the customer
  • Reviewing & analysing contract performance with the customer, recommending & initiating improvement plans where appropriate

 

People

 

  • Utilise available resources to maximise efficiency in order to achieve and exceed customer KPI's/productivity targets.
  • Ensure team staffing levels are planned, managed and adjusted as necessary to meet operational requirements, ensuring accurate recording of all staff hours.
  • Contribute to operational projects and ensure requirements are delivered
  • Conduct Shift Manager briefings daily/weekly/as required, discussing any issues that could cause difficulty or concern within the operation
  • Ensure a safe working environment and operate in accordance with company H&S policies. To ensure adequate accident investigation are carried out with appropriate support from H & S colleagues and to take corrective action as appropriate. 
  • Ensure high levels of customer service at all times and to ensure correct procedures and practices are adhered to by staff at all times
 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED AT XPO?

 

  • Experience of a complex, fast moving warehouse environment at Managerial level
  • Ability to work within a rapidly changing environment
  • Management within an unionised environment
  • Excellent people management skills
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Good ability to build & maintain relationships
  • Excellent organisational and problem solving skills
  • Drive to meet business, team and individual goals
  • Demonstrable resource planning experience and cost control focus
  • Demonstrable experience of managing disciplinary, grievance and absence matters and taking a proactive approach to poor performance/capability
  • Good practical understanding of H & S
  • Good level of English & Polish (speaking & writting) 
  • Team player, with excellent communication skills
  • Well-organised and conscious with a flexible approach
  • Profficient in Excel, Word and Powerpoint
  • Good analytical and numerical skills with a high level of attention to detail
  • Knowledge of working time legislation
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Experience of participating in committees, forums, small projects or workshops
  • Flexible approach to working hours required
  • Flexibility to work shift patterns including weekends and bank holidays
