What you’ll do on a typical day:

  • Mentor and lead a team of Carrier Procurement Representatives; interview and train new employees, conduct employee reviews and establish detailed performance goals
  • Manage daily carrier procurement operations for the Less-than-Truckload (LTL) business using KPI metrics, including revenue, margin, load count, call logs and carrier management
  • Act as a liaison for customers, Branch Presidents and operations
  • Provide industry expertise, guidance and support on pricing, freight claims, safety and compliance
  • Assist with generating and reviewing bids and resolving issues, questions and conflicts
  • Review shipment reports by lane, customer, carrier, equipment type and regions, focusing on pricing, costs and service
  • Work cross-functionally to review pricing, capacity and service KPIs for LTL
  • Offer input and assistance for developing quarterly/annual budgets and operating plans

What you need to succeed at XPO:

At a minimum, you’ll need:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 5 years of transportation-related experience 

It’d be great if you also have:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 2 or more years of non-asset-based brokerage experience
  • Experience with staff management and conflict resolution
  • Proven leadership and collaboration skills with the ability to effectively supervise, coach and influence employees
  • Ability to prioritize work and perform well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to think analytically and interpret data insightfully to drive decisions
