What you’ll do on a typical day:

  • Prepare and review journal entries and perform balance sheet account reconciliations; take ownership of accounting for certain areas of the general ledger and sub-ledgers
  • Verify and reconcile allocation transactions
  • Analyze and summarize monthly management reports and accompanying schedules and narratives, including budget vs. actual variance reports and follow-up on significant variances
  • Provide technical accounting support; participate in setting financial standards and offering advice to management
  • Maintain accounting controls by adhering to policies and procedures; ensure compliance with internal controls and SOX requirements
  • Answer accounting procedural questions in compliance with accounting policy and regulations; comply with federal, state and local financial legal requirements
  • Provide accounting support for mergers and acquisitions by reviewing financial information, converting data to general ledger systems and obtaining supplementary information for preparing financial statements

What you need to succeed at XPO:

At a minimum, you’ll need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business with an emphasis in Accounting, or equivalent experience
  • CPA
  • 5 years of experience in finance
  • Experience creating financial statements
  • Experience in accounting with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process; thorough knowledge of basic accounting procedures and principles
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project); ability to create complex formulas in Excel

It’d be great if you also have:

  • Master’s degree in Accounting/Public Accounting
  • Experience with Oracle
  • Good verbal and written communication, customer service and dispute resolution skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Self-motivated work style; able to work well with minimal supervision or in a team environment; consult with team members and management as needed
  • Ability to perform well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
