XPO Logistics is looking for a highly-skilled professional who knows how to get the best out of his/her team.  As the Transportation Rate Manager, you will be responsible for loading both carrier accounts payable (AP) and customer accounts receivable (AR) contracted rates into the JDA Transportation System. You will play a critical role on our team, and your decision-making will have a direct impact on how transportation spend and revenue are identified and accounted for by the Finance Team. What you’ll do on a typical day:

  • Analyze and verify that rate, fuel and accessorial agreements meet critical requirements prior to loading into system, as this has a direct impact on monthly revenue reporting
  • Load complex rate agreements into JDA system using various methods, including manual, CSV, Rate Kiosk and Upload Tool
  • Identify rating problems and initiate resolutions to ensure proper invoicing for both carrier AP and customer AR
  • Interpret and execute tariff and contract application for various modes of transportation, including Truckload (TL), Less-than-Truckload (LTL), Intermodal, Ocean, Air, Small Package and Rail
  • Generate monthly metrics based on business objectives and goals
  • Build multiple rule sets and parameters based on complexity of contract to produce and execute reports, including all areas of rating such as line haul, fuel and accessorial
  • Perform weekly maintenance and calculation of fuel surcharges
  • Translate foreign language agreements for proper loading into the system
  • Collaborate with and support Procurement, Operations, FBAP and Transportation invoicing with rating questions and issues that require root cause analysis for resolution
  • Partner with Procurement to ensure pricing is properly executed to allow for loading into JDA
  • Follow established guidelines and controls, including administration policies and procedures

What you need to succeed at XPO:

At a minimum you’ll need:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
  • 1 year of JDA experience
  • 3 or more years of experience in transportation 
  • Ability to perform the duties of the job while sitting in an office environment with some exposure to mild or moderate noise; ability to occasionally stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; able to reach with hands and arms, and readily and effectively communicate
  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 lbs.
  • Ability to effectively see within an office environment, which may include long-term computer exposure, and to adjust focus accordingly   

It’d be great if you also have:

  • Carrier contract auditing and accounts payable experience
  • Broad range of network and desktop knowledge, including experience with Microsoft Office Suite programs and various operating systems
  • Proven ability to multitask and meet stringent deadlines
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with peers, end users and external clients
  • Excellent leadership skills with the ability to mentor teammates to increase overall team capabilities
