What you’ll do on a typical day:

  • Identify, review and analyze business requirements; assist in designing and developing solutions that address appropriate business needs
  • Train and develop IT members on how XPO staff performs their duties in relation to business operations
  • Assist in establishing test criteria and executing user acceptance testing; ensure that development/testing meets all system requirements
  • Participate in the deployment/implementation of application solutions; support ongoing operations by responding to queries and problems; partner in business change management, working to ensure system adoption
  • Guide prioritization of requirements based on business value, risk, architectural significance and other drivers
  • Conduct team reviews of requirement documents, design documents and work products
  • Gather data to ensure requirements address correct business problems; provide technical software troubleshooting (Java and Angular) to understand why some features may or may not be working
  • Communicate with analysts and developers about data and programming needs; maintain/monitor project quality throughout the improvement process

What you need to succeed at XPO:

At a minimum, you’ll need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in MIS, Computer Science or related field
  • 7 years of business analysis experience in support of Agile software development, solutions development and customer relationships
  • Proficiency as a data analyst, developer and technical lead
  • Ability to utilize technical tools/languages like SQL, R or Python to perform data analysis
  • Technical understanding of software products built using Java or C#, and any current front-end development frameworks
  • Ability to understand different technical components of systems and their interconnections, and troubleshoot issues at a high level; ability to read code to understand how the system is expected to work
  • Ability to quickly learn and achieve proficiency in new software applications

It’d be great if you also have:

  • Knowledge of IT software development methodologies/processes and how to connect technology to business problems
  • Ability to operate effectively in an agile environment
  • Working knowledge of project management methodologies
  • Knowledge of transportation and logistics
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all roles within a software development environment
