We’re on the lookout for a Transport Shift Operator to join our team on the ETEX contract. This is a full-time, permanent role working the night shift, Monday to Thursday, 22:00 – 06:00, Friday 18:00 – 02:00.

You’ll be at the heart of ensuring our transport operations run smoothly, safely, and efficiently.

We’re looking to offer a salary of up to £29,000 per annum. As well as this, you’ll receive 25 days annual leave (plus bank holidays), access to a variety of high street discounts, cycle to work scheme, a workplace pension and many other perks. There is also an opportunity to learn and progress through the transport operation. 

What you’ll do on a typical day:

As a Transport Operator at our ETEX Portbury site, you’ll report to the Transport Shift Manager and play a key role in keeping our night operations running smoothly. Your responsibilities will include:

• Coordinating drivers: Booking in and dispatching 40+ drivers and subcontractors.
• Gatehouse operations: Managing vehicle flow and ensuring timely loading.
• Customer communication: Handling ETAs, delivery updates, and issue resolution.
• Admin & compliance: Processing debriefs, PODs, and maintaining accurate records.
• Planning support: Assisting with transport scheduling, maintenance, and KPI reporting.
• Haulier relations: Building strong links with third-party hauliers and internal teams.
• Service excellence: Ensuring on-time deliveries and full compliance with policies.
• Flexibility: Supporting a 3-shift operation—adaptability is essential

What you need to succeed at XPO:

• Essential: 1-2 years’ experience working within a transport office or office environment. 
• Essential: Strong communication and administration skills, able to handle different personality types
• Essential: Great organisational skills, management capability and strong influencing skills.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office packages, including Word and Excel would be an advantage but training will be provided.
