We’re currently recruiting for a Transport Shift Supervisor on the Day Shift, working a 4 on 4 off pattern, based at our site in Leigh, as part of this busy transport operation on our IKEA contract.

We’re looking to offer a salary of up to £27,000 per annum. In addition, we offer 20 days holiday Including bank holidays, as well as the option to buy additional days. What you’ll do on a typical day:

 

  •  To supervise the day to day operations on site including people management, warehousing, traffic and admin operations.
  • To deputise for Shift Manager when required.
  • Overall responsibility for the management of customer stock from receipt to final last mile delivery for all customers. Working with IKEA (But not limited to this)
  • Working with the Shift Manager on operational costs, achieving budget whilst identifying and then delivering cost reduction within the site.
  • Ensure efficient planning of resource to ensure the operation is undertaken in the most cost effective and efficient manner
  • Proactively plan and engage with other departments to ensure a collaborative approach and effective resolution of issues.
  • To ensure all vehicles are loaded and unloaded safely and correctly within specified time limits.
  • To ensure warehouse operatives complete loading and unloading documentation on time and in full
  • Responsible for ensuring that the quality of the product and service within the Warehouse is maintained at the highest possible standards for the customer
  • Develop and manage site KPI’s in line customer SLA.
  • Provide leadership and direction to the team.
  • Manage the team at your site.
  • Motivate, coach, and develop a high performing Hub team.
  • Be the point of contact for the Customer.
  • Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Create and drive a culture of continuous improvement and lead process improvement activities.

 

What you need to succeed at XPO:

 

  • It’s important you have exposure of working in a fast-paced environment – no two days will be the same and we need you to think on your feet
  • Previous experience supervising and developing a team within a complex transport environment
  • Proven experience within transport and a good understanding of compliance and driver hours
  • Computer literate as will be answering email, dispatching drivers, and compiling a handover every morning.
  • Team building experience.
  • Experience in a fast-paced, time critical environment.
  • Some transport experience dealing with C+E drivers would be beneficial.
