In order to support our customer’s continuously growing operation we are looking for a strong and experienced Safety & Security Lead. Our customer is a Top 50 Fortune 500 company in the High Tech Industry that specializes in internet-related services and products, which include cloud computing, software, and hardware. Working as a Safety Lead at XPO Logistics - Ghlin

In this role you are responsible for the local maintenance, adherence, improvement and implementation of our Safety and Security standards at our customer’s Data Centers in Belgium. You are also accountable for Safety and Security operational activities, projects, improvements and reporting. You will work closely together with the local Safety and Security teams for this. You will be reporting to the EMEA Safety Manager with a strong line into the local Operations Manager and EMEA Security Manager. The time allocation we expect in this role is 80% Safety and 20% Security.


What are you going to do:

  • Implement and maintain the EMEA Safety Program in accordance with XPO’s and our customer’s policies, procedures as well as national legal requirements
  • Perform risks assessments and eliminate or reduce health and safety risks
  • Safety related reporting and investigation of incidents, near misses and observations to ensure that local strategies are implemented to prevent recurrence or reduce the number of incidents
  • Coordinating and carrying out safety and security audits; investigate non-conformities and ensure completeness and timeliness of investigations 
  • Determining the root cause of reported complaints using adequate methodology for complaint investigation and implementation (RCCA/CAPA)
  • Onboarding – new employee security certifications
  • Coordinating local training programs, rollout of new processes and procedures.
  • Compiling various reports and compiling KPI data


What are you bringing:

  • You have a higher college or bachelor’s degree, preferably in Logistics
  • You have at least a recognized degree or certification in Safety, e.g. NEBOSH diploma or equivalent
  • Experience in security and/or a security certification/diploma is a pro
  • You have recently been working in a similar position for at least 3 years where you were responsible for Safety and/or Safety coordination with operational teams
  • Experience with 5S, Lean Six Sigma and Kaizen will be an advantage
  • You master the English language perfectly both written and spoken, are communicatively proficient and have strong presentation skills
  • You are resident in the region and are willing to travel about 20% of your time to the locations within this account
