Manager, Federal Tax

As the Manager, Federal Tax, you will develop and implement corporate tax strategies to minimize tax liability and ensure compliance with international tax laws. You’ll research and analyze tax issues, direct the maintenance of tax records and the filing of income, benefits and other tax returns, and oversee related reporting requirements. What you’ll do on a typical day:

  • Handle all aspects of the domestic tax return preparations, ensuring compliance with applicable federal regulations and review complex tax returns prepared by team members for accuracy, completeness and timely filing
  • Prepare domestic tax provisions and other financial reporting items that are needed for the provision team
  • Assist and work collaboratively with the International Tax Manager on various international tax projects, when applicable
  • Assist Senior Tax Directors and throughout the year on federal tax planning projects including but not limited to, preparation of the modeling of certain tax effects of the transactions, preparation of calculations of tax benefits, and other documentation of other tax considerations associated to the planning
  • Tax process optimization, including development and implementation of procedural changes and/or enhancement of existing processes
  • Train and evaluate employees to enhance their performance, development and work product; address performance issues and make recommendations for personnel actions

What you need to succeed at GXO:

At a minimum, you’ll need:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent related work or military experience
  • 5 years of experience in a publicly traded corporate income tax department or in the tax department of a large public accounting firm with 1-2 of those years managing a professional staff 
  • Experience with U.S. Corporate Income Tax Law and U.S. Tax Accounting

It’d be great if you also have:

  • Master’s degree in Tax or Accounting
  • CPA certification
  • 7 years of experience in a corporate income tax department, or in the tax department of a large public accounting firm 
  • 5 years of experience handling professional staff
