Working as Shift leader at GXO Logistics - Oss‎

As a Shift leader you are responsible for monitoring and controlling the entire flow of goods, from impact to removal. You are the internal point of contact about the logistics process, act as a trouble-shooter in case of deviations in the processes and work closely with various departments within the organisation. You report to the Operations Manager and directly lead the team leader and coordinator within your shift. The work is carried out in a shift system that is part of weekends and nights. During your shift you are responsible for the entire process, you ensure that everything runs smoothly. If there are malfunctions or deviations in the process, you escalate to the Management Team.‎

 

Your tasks as a Shift leader consist of:‎

  • ‎Having and keeping a sharp overview of the entire process
  • ‎Proactively dealing with opportunities for improvement. You make proposals to improve the process and implement it after approval
  • ‎Actively respond to (expected) disruptions in the process. Where necessary, you can contact the customer, suppliers and/or the Management Team
  • ‎In consultation with the Operations Manager, you draw up the medium-term planning, considering volumes
  • ‎In consultation with the team leader and coordinator, you ensure an ideal staffing, with the use of own or temporary employees and by drawing up an optimal production and capacity planning
  • ‎Conducting assessment and absenteeism interviews and taking care of the development of the employees within your team.
  • ‎Maintaining and collecting relevant data for documentation, such as calculations, process schedules and work instructions
  • ‎Initiate and maintain contact with the various departments within the organization, including Customer Service and Business Support regarding bottlenecks and improvement possibilities in the process
  • ‎Participating in various projects. Every Shift leader is responsible for the entire process during the service, but in addition, focus areas have been appointed about improvement processes/projects in the (middle) long-term areas. Every Shift leader gets a focus and will look with his team for improvement opportunities within this focus area

 

 Job requirements of a Shift leader:‎

  • ‎HBO working and thinking level, preferably in business administration or logistics‎
  • ‎At least 5 years of relevant work experience‎
  • ‎Experience in planning, managing and monitoring the entire process flow
  • ‎Knowledge of WMS functionality‎
  • ‎Mastery of the English language in words and writings‎
  • ‎Analytical ability, accurate, result-oriented, innovative, stress-resistant, proactive and cost-conscious‎
