Windows Systems Engineer

As the Windows Systems Engineer, you will ensure that the workstation environment is properly administered including patching, OS and software. You will also conduct troubleshooting investigations, perform configuration changes and recommend and implement new technologies. What you’ll do on a typical day:

  • Maintain Windows workstations and take appropriate action to ensure excellent performance and availability; develop, test and implement technical improvements to system configuration and operation following change control processes
  • Investigate, configure and test new technologies for use and deployment in the production environment
  • Complete forms or update configuration databases to reflect all changes affecting the equipment or software inventories (after equipment installations, software installations or equipment moves)
  • Implement and follow processes to ensure the security of all systems and data
  • Design, implement and execute appropriate standardized procedures to ensure system health and provide reports or logs 
  • Provide third-tier assistance to support center; complete work to resolve assigned incident tickets within service windows and update information in the support center system to complete ticket resolution
  • Refer problems to level three service providers; follow department change and configuration management procedures

What you need to succeed at GXO:

At a minimum, you’ll need:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent related work or military experience
  • 1 year of experience with Microsoft Exchange, mail routing/filtering and scripting
  • Strong Windows performance tuning and troubleshooting skills
  • Working knowledge of SCCM and Windows operating system
  • Knowledge of DNS, WINS and DHCP 
  • Knowledge of hardware maintenance and installation

It’d be great if you also have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or substantial relevant experience
  • 5 years of experience in Windows system administration
  • Microsoft certification or course work (MCSE/MCITP)
  • Experience with 2008 and 2012 Windows system administration
  • Citrix and/or remote desktop services experience
