What you’ll do on a typical day:

  • Identify new products and services to fuel growth and generate additional EBITDA for the organization
  • Lead international/offshore business development and tactics
  • Work with sales to develop an overall international/offshore business development plan and maximize opportunities to generate sales activity with customers, partners and publishers
  • Identify business development opportunities; coordinate sales and operations teams to drive such opportunities from concept to execution
  • Perform as the sales leader for international/offshore services, represent upper management and communicate direction to sales team
  • Directly supervise the product marketing and inside sales teams
  • Understand the industrial makeup and business activity within the domestic and international arena; maintain current knowledge of the competition and their locations, scope of service, pricing actions and competitive strengths and weaknesses
  • Train, teach, coach and mentor sales team with tailored development plans; retain experienced and effective account executives; develop individual territory goals and quotas for each member of the team 
  • Develop and maintain multilevel customer relationships to uncover specific needs and behaviors of key decision makers, including targeted entertainment planning appropriate to revenue volume, potential, profitability and the buyer behavior of each customer account
  • Review weekly, monthly and quarterly sales objectives and results for target accounts and prepare action plans where improvement is needed
  • Maintain working knowledge in the following technical areas: Virtual DBS, Ansonia, Salesforce.com and Business Intelligence

What you need to succeed at XPO:

At a minimum, you’ll need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing or a related field
  • 5 years of related work experience with a high proficiency in business development, product marketing, sales, transportation and/or other comparable areas
  • Sales management experience in a supervisory or management role
  • Business acumen and solid understanding of sales processes
  • National and global accounts exposure
  • Experience developing and executing business plan strategies
  • Availability to travel 50-75% of the time

It’d be great if you also have:

  • International (Canada/Mexico) and U.S. offshore experience
  • Proven success in meeting sales goals in previous roles, with a strong desire to win
  • Strong working knowledge of XPO’s Less-than-Truckload (LTL) service lines
  • Demonstrated project management, leadership and execution skills
  • Success in managing the project progression from identification to closure
  • Excellent negotiation skills
