As the Senior Director of Operations, you will own Business Excellence across the Managed Transportation organization. You will be responsible for the success of leading the overall direction of operational excellence by building the foundation and driving the automation, continuous improvement and deployment of Lean initiatives. Your years of experience will be put to work improving employee engagement and maintaining clear and frequent communication on every level.

What you’ll do on a typical day:

  • Successfully manage P&L Managed Transportation customers, driving both top and bottom line growth, and creating value for the customer to achieve net revenue and operating income goals
  • Manage automation, visibility and analytics; collaborate on technology integration projects by providing insight and information on operational processes
  • Create a strategic direction for the Business Excellence organization using Six Sigma, Lean and improvement methodologies
  • Oversee and execute strategic direction across Managed Transportation
  • Build strategic relationships with both internal and external clients, and senior management
  • Deploy Lean initiatives across the business unit to maximize customer value and increase operational efficiencies
  • Handle and optimize operational processes, reporting on performance and initiating improvements for operations; provide direction, development and leadership to managers and supervisors

What you need to succeed at XPO:

At a minimum, you’ll need:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 10 years of dynamic experience in transportation and/or operations management

It’d be great if you also have:

  • Experience leading teams across an organization and driving continuous improvement initiatives
  • Lean application and continuous improvement experience
  • Confirmed leadership and collaboration skills with the ability to effectively supervise, coach and influence employees within all levels of an organization
  • Confidence to take calculated risks, make strategic, results-oriented decisions and accept responsibility for the results, positive or negative
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective, collaborative work relationships both internally and externally
  • Demonstrated planning, project management, problem-solving techniques and analytical skills
  • Ability to find opportunities to increase accuracy, optimize resources and develop, recommend and implement solutions
