As the Senior Tax Analyst Provision, you will be responsible for researching income tax filing requirements and presenting conclusions on complicated issues to management. You will prepare and review moderate to highly-complex state income tax returns, work papers, income tax-related extensions and estimated income tax payments. What you’ll do on a typical day:

  • Develop work paper requests; work with other departments and provide guidance in preparing work papers required to prepare tax returns/tax provisions
  • Research legal, regulatory and operating issues; identify areas of concern and generate and recommend solutions for review by manager, state income tax and/or other tax authorities
  • Prepare and review responses to state notices and requests for information
  • Analyze, assess and report impact of state audits for review by manager
  • Conduct research and financial modeling related to tax-reduction strategies
  • Oversee and review state income tax estimates and execute any required extension processes

What you need to succeed at XPO:

At a minimum, you’ll need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, or any combination of education, experience or training
  • 5 years of professional experience in a publicly-traded corporate income tax department, or in the tax department of a large public accounting firm
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Oracle or similar ERP systems, HFM, and OneSource or similar tax preparation software
  • Ability to conduct tax research using the internet and other published sources
  • Advanced knowledge of state income tax laws, including tax laws governing the computation of taxable income, tax credits, compliance, qualified benefit plans reporting, generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) rules pertaining to the reporting of income taxes and financial modeling
  • Proven ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive materials and information
