What you’ll do on a typical day:

  • Identify process improvement opportunities, coordinate project resources on assigned projects and develop engineered standards for facility process areas; develop, maintain and optimize facility layout; plan, execute and perform project management responsibilities as assigned
  • Ensure the highest possible customer service level while operating within the contractual requirements; communicate with customers to better understand their wants and needs, and develop strategies to recommend solutions and support deliverables within the agreed-upon solution
  • Solve engineering problems to facilitate expected project completion dates
  • Identify facility design requirements based on activity levels, product envelope, product flow and transportation methods; develop building layout and power requirements, and produce AutoCAD design to be used by various teams to implement startup
  • Specify material handling equipment, storage equipment and up fit requirements; create equipment and operating supply lists and purchase order requisitions; work with facilities engineering to develop and/or specify equipment requirements 
  • Determine startup and ongoing personnel requirements based on activity levels and product profile; identify management and supervisory requirements for personnel 
  • Configure cartonization table data, location logic table data, strategies, commodity table data and system flag settings for functionality; work with IT to identify and document new functionality not currently available; identify changes needed for existing functionality; test IT solutions and functionality for WMS, OMS and TMS
  • Specify packing methods to be used based on mode/method of transportation and product profile; specify containers/cartons and packaging (void fill) medium requirements; identify outbound labeling/documentation requirements; provide annual cost estimates for packing materials 
  • Support and work in partnership with operations management and supervisors to develop, train on and continuously improve the best processes and work instructions for inclusion in the QMS system to support the site’s AS9100/ISO9001 environment

What you need to succeed at XPO:

At a minimum, you’ll need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field 
  • 2 years of experience with distribution center design and implementation
  • Project and resource management experience
  • Demonstrated experience with analytical tools such as flow charts, Pareto charts, cause and effect diagrams, run charts, etc.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and AutoCAD
  • Extensive experience in quality, engineering, Lean and work cell manufacturing, along with experience executing best practices in a high-volume production atmosphere
  • Experience in an AS9100 or ISO-9001 production environment

It’d be great if you also have:

  • Availability to travel up to 75% of the time
  • Experience providing daily operational support to management 
  •  Access and/or SQL, Oracle and AS400 platforms experience
