What you’ll do on a typical day:

  • Performance management including overseeing and ensuring deliveries and pickups for on-time performance, ensuring there are proper records entered into the system for operations and billing purposes, and overseeing all aspects of equipment management
  • Manage employees, which includes recruiting, mentoring, developing a team, and training staff to deliver a high standard of customer service
  • Improve the service provided by the planner and dispatchers by providing procedures, polices, and standards; stay up-to-date on the organization’s products and services
  • Perform customer service including communicating daily with customers, potential customers, internal dray terminals, outside dray vendors, and independent contractors
  • Assist with conflict resolution by taking ownership of high-level customer issues and follow problems through to resolution; work cross-functionally with other departments to resolve issues
  • Report and analyze statistics; compile accurate reports by documenting customer service interactions and service level agreements

What you need to succeed at XPO:

At a minimum, you’ll need:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1 year of logistics or transportation experience
  • 1 year of management experience
  • Strong fluency user of Windows applications and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Availability to occasionally work nights and weekends

It’d be great if you also have:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Proven leadership and collaboration skills with the ability to effectively supervise, coach, and influence employees
  • Strong business focus with demonstrated ability to act in partnership with management teams
  • Perform with a high level of initiative, exhibiting persistence and willingness to stimulate new ideas within the organization
  • Ability to identify and resolve problems
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to present clean, organized, and thorough information and data appropriate for intended audience
