As the Controller, Financial Reporting, Policy and Internal Controls, you will manage all monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting for the business unit and oversee all internal and external audits, including coordination of Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) activities. You’ll also research and develop policies for the Supply Chain Finance department in coordination with the Corporate Technical Accounting team. What you’ll do on a typical day:

  • Oversee all reporting in Hyperion Financial Management (HFM) for the business unit, including the French reporting of Jacobson for Norbert
  • Manage all internal and external audit activities while providing feedback to teams on the results and organizing improvement in results as needed
  • Lead the ongoing SOX compliance program for the business unit; proactively identify areas of concern, develop appropriate internal controls framework and ensure controls are operating as intended
  • Partner with Corporate SOX team to ensure no deficiencies are identified during the year; develop prompt changes to ensure the deficiencies are resolved in a timely manner and cleared through Corporate team
  • Ensure compliance with all SEC and FASB regulations by establishing an environment where associates seek assistance when issues arise
  • Research and conclude on new and proposed accounting, reporting and disclosure standards issued by the SEC and FASB; review memorandums prepared by staff regarding the company’s position and impact on the company
  • Liaison with Corporate Consolidations and Accounting departments; implement and maintain reporting procedures to comply with internal control requirements
  • Manage month-end and year-end closing, including gathering all reporting and disclosure requirements
  • Obtain, train and utilize staff in India (GOSC office) to assist in the documentation of all key policies and procedures for the department
  • Collaborate with invoicing department and external customers to assist and coordinate internal/externa audits performed on customer invoices
  • Handle audits of reconciliations and journal entries to ensure compliance with policies and procedures and provide feedback to team members for improvement

What you need to succeed at XPO:

At a minimum, you’ll need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or a related field
  • 8 years of experience in a financial environment role, including management experience and extensive SOX and internal control experience
  • Knowledge of ERP systems (Oracle), HFM, financial planning software, Microsoft BI and related technologies
  • Experience with large databases; able to utilize data from various BI systems
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Access)

It’d be great if you also have:

  • Experience with Lean/Six Sigma management concepts and/or certifications
  • Availability to work flexible schedule, including planned and unplanned overtime, which may include weekends
