What you’ll do on a typical day:

  • Lead the design and deployment of a companywide Third-Party Risk Governance and Assessment program; assist in the identification, classification, measurement and monitoring of third-party risks
  • Develop and maintain a Model Risk Management program for the company; perform and/or coordinate additional modeling and analysis around key risks
  • Manage the ongoing third-party risk program, including an integrated approach for assessing and mitigating the risk of new and existing third-party suppliers; seek ways to improve the governance model to provide ongoing monitoring and oversight of the risks posed by third-parties
  • Monitor and update the third-party risk assessment framework to respond and adhere to new and existing regulatory guidelines and initiatives; oversee third-party risk segmentation; deploy and maintain up-to-date annual attestations by relationship owners
  • Ensure the highest priority risk topics have the strongest controls, diligence and comprehensive risk reporting; develop reports regarding third-party risks; provide monthly and quarterly reports on claims activity
  • Develop a Community of Practice (CoP) that is cross-functional for third-party and fourth-party risk
  • Partner with the sourcing team, ERM/ORM, business units and other assurance functions in the second and third line of defense to identify third-party risks and escalate those risks appropriately
  • Actively engage and participate in working groups to find ways to mitigate identified risks among stakeholders, including Technology, Vendor Management, Procurement, Compliance and Legal departments
  • Oversee Claims Analyst activity/coding; handle and authorize claims reserves and settlement requests
  • Interact with various insurance carriers to address claim or coverage issues; meet with panel firms and/or host meetings with attorneys to review claims; assist with settlement of large exposure claims
  • Verify daily transactions and confirm compliance with settlement and reserving guidelines; oversee the claims database and keep it updated with new contracts, claims, insurance policies and users
  • Support the operation groups with claims-related issues, risk management activities and insurance matters

What you need to succeed at XPO:  

At a minimum, you’ll need:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Health Care, Risk Management or equivalent insurance work experience
  • 5 years of experience in operational risk management
  • 12 years of professional liability claims experience with at least 3 years at a supervisory level
  • Advanced knowledge of insurance coverage, concepts and the claim resolution process
  • Extraordinary negotiation skills
  • Intermediate proficiency with personal computers and Microsoft Office

It’d be great if you also have:

  • 10 years of related experience within insurance, banking or asset management
  • Proven leadership, mentoring and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; solid organizational skills
