Role Summary

This operations management role is very hands-on. It requires someone who leads by example and is proactive as well as strategic. The success of this role is based on the performance of the team, so it is essential that you can effectively coach, train, and develop team members. We are looking for an individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is willing to grow and develop their talents with our company

 

What you’ll do on a typical day:

  • Communicate with customers, vendors and operations to ensure customer commitments are met
  • Establish procedures for maintaining overall company quality objectives
  • Provide guidance to supervisors with respect to personnel, quality and safety
  • Hire, train, develop and appraise staff effectively
  • Manage facility, yard, personnel and all associated activities
  • Manage equipment and coordinate all maintenance needs with the maintenance team
  • Ensure all records/reports are completed on time and maintained appropriately
  • Adhere to and enforce all safe work practices
  • Manage fleet of trucks/trailers, drivers and daily work activities
  • Manage inbound/outbound freight from warehouse and yard
  • Manage a team, focusing on specific growth opportunities and trends to leverage industry benchmarks and provide year-over-year improvement of KPI measurements  
  • Oversee warehousing, receiving, distribution and maintenance, including equipment operations

What you need to succeed at XPO:

At a minimum, you’ll need:

  • 4 years of operations experience 
  • Managerial/supervisory experience
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and computerized scanner equipment

It’d be great if you also have:

  • Master’s degree in Business Administration or a similar field
  • Availability to work a flexible schedule as needed, including planned and unplanned overtime, which may include weekends
  • 5 years of related experience in logistics, transportation or management
  • Advanced experience with Microsoft Excel
  • Excellent written communication skills
  • Experience presenting organized and thorough information/data appropriate for intended audience
  • Capacity to effectively partner with individuals and groups within the region while utilizing a variety of interpersonal styles and communication methods
