As the Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) Engineer, you’ll be the site leader and subject matter expert (SME) for the performance and improvement of information technology (IT) systems. You’ll ensure that the WMS maintains data integrity and is configured optimally to support operational deliverables. You’ll Initiate and support continuous improvement efforts that reduce waste and deliver improved quality, efficiency and operational performance, while providing data analysis, reporting, KPI dashboard development and standard work instruction (SWI) definition and documentation. What you’ll do on a typical day:

  • Maintain WMS master data as it relates to part numbers, work centers and inventory storage rules
  • Ensure that WMS configuration is optimized to support/drive operational execution in alignment with predefined service level agreements (SLAs)
  • Partner with the operations management team to ensure compliance with SWIs as they pertain to system use and maintaining data integrity
  • Support the creation and updating of SWIs when they involve WMS interaction
  • Serve as the site-level WMS SME and drive solutions for local operations management
  • Partner with the central IT group to test and troubleshoot performance problems
  • Make recommendations for system solutions and enhancements to the central IT group and participate on project teams to design, test and deploy system upgrades
  • Develop, implement and track continuous improvement projects and actions
  • Design and implement reports and dashboards for operations teams
  • Provide data analysis and interpret results in support of operational continuous improvement efforts
  • Perform other duties as assigned or requested

What you need to succeed at XPO:

At a minimum, you’ll need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering, Supply Chain or other related Science or Engineering field, or equivalent experience
  • 2 or more years of experience in a distribution, manufacturing or engineering environment with responsibility for IT systems
  • Proficiency with integrated Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and/or WMS systems
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Lean manufacturing/engineering processes and quality management methods
  • Excellent documentation, communication and technical writing skills

It’d be great if you also have:

  • Master’s degree in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering, Supply Chain or other related Science or Engineering field, or equivalent experience
  • Ability to work well with others; able to clearly communicate with a spirit of cooperation, respect and integrity in a team-oriented environment
  • Self-motivated with an extremely organized work style
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
