As the Planning Manager, you will assume management oversight for the traffic, demand planning, waving, scheduling and forecasting functions for the facility. You will also employ planning processes and applications to deliver reliable projections of forward demand requirements, while coordinating departments to ensure maximum customer service and minimal operating costs. What you’ll do on a typical day:

  • Oversee the supply planning functions by providing a disciplined process of training and work instruction to a staff of order planners and traffic clerks
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for carrier compliance, ship scheduling, waving and capacity planning operations for all activities, including planning and coordination as related to WM+
  • Coordinate planning activities with the Customer Operations Support, Traffic and Operations Management teams to ensure clear and consistent communications along the supply chain
  • Provide weekly, monthly and quarterly reports to support customer and management requirements; plan, coordinate and prepare comprehensive reporting packages for review meetings
  • Ensure compliance of operating procedures as defined in position work instructions
  • Recruit, train and develop a qualified team that will demonstrate a commitment to achieving exceptional customer service

What you need to succeed at XPO:

At a minimum, you’ll need:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
  • APICS certification or willingness to earn certification
  • 8 years of experience leading complex demand planning or supply chain activities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Access, Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and database reporting tools

It’d be great if you also have:

  • Availability to travel up to 5% of the time
  • Strong logical thinking abilities; able to perform with initiative, intuition, flexibility and accuracy
  • Solid data management capabilities
  • Ability to structure large volumes of data into actionable information
  • Outstanding presentation, teambuilding and collaboration/facilitation skills; excellent verbal and written communication skills
