As the Planning Manager, you will assume management oversight for the demand planning, waving, traffic, scheduling and forecasting functions for the facility. You will also employ planning processes and applications to deliver reliable projections of forward demand requirements, as well as coordinate departments to ensure maximum customer service while minimizing operating costs. What you’ll do on a typical day:

  • Oversee the supply planning functions by providing a disciplined process of training and work instruction to a staff of order planners and traffic clerks
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for carrier compliance, ship scheduling, waving and capacity planning operations for all activities including planning and coordination as related to WM+
  • Coordinate planning activities with the Customer Operations Support teams, Traffic and Operations Management to ensure clear and consistent communications along the supply chain
  • Provide weekly, monthly and quarterly reports to support customer and management requirements; plan, coordinate and prepare comprehensive reporting packages for review meetings
  • Ensure compliance of operating procedures as defined in position work instructions
  • Recruit, train and develop a qualified team that will demonstrate a commitment to achieving exceptional customer service

What you need to succeed at XPO:

At a minimum, you’ll need:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
  • APICS certification or willingness to earn certification
  • 8 years of experience leading complex demand planning or supply chain activities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, MS Access, WMS and database reporting tools

It’d be great if you also have:

  • Availability to travel up to 5% of the time
  • Strong logical thinker demonstrating initiative, intuition, flexibility and accuracy
  • Strong data management capability and the ability to communicate well verbally and in writing
  • Ability to structure large volumes of data into actionable management information
  • Strong presentation, team-building and collaboration/facilitation skills
