As the Service Manager, you will be responsible for order management activities, including selecting vendors that maximize margin, tendering loads to underlying intermodal carriers, and managing dashboards. You’ll make sure your team exceeds expectations in the areas of on-time pickup and delivery, email response time, dwell time of equipment, paperwork collection and actual cost versus planned cost. What you’ll do on a typical day:

  • Oversee performance management, including ensuring on-time deliveries and pickups, confirming proper records are entered into the system for operational/billing purposes, and handling all aspects of equipment management
  • Handle employees, which includes recruiting, mentoring, developing a team and training your staff to deliver exemplary customer service
  • Improve the service provided by the planners and dispatchers by coaching them on procedures, polices and standards; stay current on the organization’s products and services
  • Perform customer service activities, including communicating daily with existing customers, potential customers, internal dray terminals, external dray vendors and independent contractors
  • Assist with conflict resolution by taking ownership of high-level customer issues and following problems through to resolution; work cross-functionally with other departments to resolve issues
  • Research and report on statistics; compile accurate reports by documenting customer service interactions and service level agreements

What you need to succeed at XPO:

At a minimum, you’ll need:

  • 4 years of logistics experience with 1-year leadership experience
  • Experience with Windows applications and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint)

It’d be great if you also have:

  • Bachelor's degree in logistics, business or similar
  • Availability to occasionally work nights and weekends
  • Proven leadership and collaboration skills with the ability to effectively supervise, coach and influence employees
  • Solid business focus with demonstrated ability to work in partnership with management teams to achieve positive results
  • Capacity to perform with a high level of initiative, exhibiting persistence and a willingness to stimulate new ideas within the organization
  • Ability to identify and resolve problems
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to present clean, organized, and thorough information and data appropriate for intended audience
