What you’ll need to succeed as a Financial Planning & Analysis Intern at XPO:
Minimum qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent and currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree
- 2 or more years of relevant coursework
- Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
Preferred qualifications:
- Education toward a bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Analytics, or related field
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to present clean, organized, and thorough information and data appropriate for the intended audience
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills with the ability to set priorities and meet deadlines
- High energy work style with a strong drive to succeed
- Self-motivated and able to work well with minimal supervision or in a team environment; able to consult with team members and management as needed
About the Financial Planning & Analysis Intern Position
What you’ll do on a typical day:
- Have the opportunity to work with this professional team in critical areas like forecasting, and monthly operating reviews.
- Participate in a 12-week program where you will assist in ongoing efforts focused on streamlining, improving, and automating recurring reporting and analysis, and gain exposure to presentations with senior leadership
- Prepare and distribute weekly / monthly financial reports, including P&L analysis, KPIs, and executive‑ready summaries.
- Support monthly, quarterly, and annual forecasting and budgeting cycles, including model updates, data validation, and variance analysis.
- Conduct ad hoc financial analysis, scenario modeling, and deep‑dive investigations.
- Partner with cross‑functional teams to understand operational drivers and validate assumptions.
- Develop and enhance tools, dashboards, and models for improved accuracy, visibility, and efficiency.
- Identify risks and opportunities, highlight trends, and provide actionable insights
- Support continuous improvement efforts across forecasting, budgeting, reporting, and data processes.
