As the Vice President, Internal Audit, you will oversee the development and execution of the global Internal Audit strategy.

What you’ll do on a typical day:

  • Partner with management to drive risk identification in the Company’s financial, operational and IT areas; subsequently develop audit strategies to address such risks
  • Communicate audit findings and recommendations to promote constructive change; collaborate with management to establish timely, appropriate action plans and then monitor those plans
  • Provide risk insights to the CFO, executive leadership and Audit Committee to drive enhancements to the Company’s control environment, highlighting overall audit plan progress and results
  • Utilize data analysis techniques to help automate audit techniques and perform continuous monitoring
  • Ensure the highest controllership standards are maintained including those related to stewardship of assets and integrity of financial transactions
  • Oversee, in coordination with Compliance, investigations in areas such as fraud, theft and code of business ethics violations and make recommendations to human resources, compliance or other members of management based on results of investigations
  • Support the integration of new acquisitions and assist in dispositions
  • Participate in risk and compliance steering committees with executive leadership including those associated with Enterprise Risk Management and Compliance
  • Ensure coordination of efforts between external auditors and internal business process/IT owners, including alignment on SOX planning, walkthroughs/testing, audit requests and deficiency evaluation
  • Oversee budgeting, forecasting, reporting and analysis of the Internal Audit function
  • Provide opportunities for auditing, controls, software and systems training to team members to develop and enhance audit skills; provide hands-on assistance and training to staff auditors

What you need to succeed at XPO:

At a minimum, you’ll need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent related work or military experience
  • 10 years of experience in public accounting or industry, preferably for a Fortune 500 company
  • Excellent communication skills: ability to effectively interact with personnel at all levels of the company
  • Strong computer skills for presentation and analysis of data

It’d be great if you also have:

  • CPA, CIA or CISA certifications
  • Six Sigma experience
  • Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) or an equivalent advanced degree
  • Ability to work cross functionally – FP&A, IT, Operations, executive leadership
  • Experience performing under tight deadlines in a rapidly changing environment; experience quickly learning and achieving proficiency in new software applications
  • Strong discretion and executive presence to drive processes while leading through influence
  • Experience developing insightful, valuable and actionable analyses with detailed explanations regarding drivers of the results; experience producing unambiguous, comprehensive and accurate interpretations
  • Strong attention to detail and follow-up skills with capacity to identify and resolve problems
  • Strong knowledge of financial regulations, policies, practices, and legal compliance
