As the Director, Benefits you will develop, implement, evaluate and maintain benefits programs, policies and procedures. You’ll also counsel employees and ensure that programs meet employee needs, comply with legal requirements, and are cost-effective. What you’ll do on a typical day:

  • Plan and direct administration and compliance for the suite of benefit programs in the  U.S. and Canada including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability programs, FSA, HSA and voluntary benefits.
  • Lead new benefit development, analyze trend data, ensure plan designs are within budget
  • Manage the annual benefit premium and open enrollment processes, lead change management and direct related communications
  • Manage all external benefit vendors including TPA, Leave Management, Medical, Pharmacy and external consultants
  • Ensure the proper maintenance of benefit records and plan documents necessary for plan administration and compliance
  • Facilitate annual compliance work including plan audits, regulatory filings, non-discrimination testing and annual disclosures
  • Provide guidance on data reconciliations for key processes and payments including the annual budget process

What you need to succeed at XPO:

At a minimum, you’ll need:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent related work or military experience
  • 7 years of experience benefit experience; at least 3 years as a senior benefit manager
  • Solid decision making, data management and analytical skills
  • Working knowledge of HRIS/payroll systems

It’d be great if you have:

  • Proven record of success leading employee benefit health, welfare and retirement plans and programs
  • Technical expertise in all areas of benefits administration and compliance
  • Advanced knowledge of ERISA, IRS, DOL and various state and local leave rules and regulations
  • Strong analytic, problem solving and issue resolution skills, with the ability to identify processes that can be streamlined and improved and partner with others to achieve results
