As the Director, Diversity you will support initiatives that affirm our commitment of respect, appreciation, and opportunity for all, being sensitive to the values, faiths, and social mores of our diverse workforce. You’ll report to the Vice President of Employee Experience and Diversity. And collaborate with operations, corporate, and HR leaders (“stakeholders”) to carry out our commitment of respect, appreciation, and opportunity for everyone. What you’ll do on a typical day:

  • You will partner with everyone to ensure we disenfranchise no one and will broadly define diversity to include welcoming everyone regardless of gender or gender identity, race or ethnicity, national origin, religion, sexual orientation, veteran status, or disability.
  • Partner with stakeholders to infuse our commitment of respect, appreciation, and opportunity throughout our organization. Expected to have a strong understanding of our policies, practices, and processes to ensure alignment with all stakeholders.
  • Support our efforts to effectively recruit, develop, engage, and retain our diverse workforce and increase our ability to support an environment where all people feel included and valued.
  • Consult with senior leaders and earn their trust and respect by collaborating effectively across all operational and corporate functions.
  • Review regularly all existing and contemplated programs, policies, processes, and communications to ensure they are inclusive.  
  • Enhance a solid internal and external reputation as a great place to work, which would include supporting our branding efforts through third-party social tools and recognition platforms.
  • Leverage data analysis to inspire action and drive outcomes, which may include preparing meaningful diversity metrics and reports communicating progress against plans that reinforce accountability.
  • Develop expertise regarding diversity-related issues from all perspectives, legislation, and best practices, using reliable, impartial sources.
  • Help build, maintain, and protect XPO's brand equity and reputation among key diverse segments.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

 

What you need to succeed at XPO:

At a minimum, you’ll need:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent related work or military experience
  • 7 years of increasingly responsible experience supporting and/or leading efforts to promote respect, appreciation, and opportunity in the workplace, including demonstrated success in supporting organizational change and fostering, driving, and implementing innovative ideas with broad impact.

It’d be great if you also have:

  • Ability to leverage existing programs to infuse our commitment for respect, appreciation, and opportunity.
  • Demonstrated experience articulating a vision, translating it into executable strategy and driving cross-functional teams to deliver against the plan.
  • Credibility as a respected, trustworthy, authentic individual who has demonstrated strategic partnering skills and the ability to work across functions and communities to develop ideas and deliver outcomes.
  • Availability to travel 25-50% of the time
