As the Director, SOX Compliance, you will develop and execute the global Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) strategy, while defining business processes to enable us to execute new controls addressing the appropriate key risks. What you’ll do on a typical day:

  • Handle the end-to-end SOX compliance program from scoping to remediation and impact assessment; elevate issues to senior management for timely resolution
  • Coordinate the efforts between external auditors and internal business process/IT owners, including alignment on SOX planning, walkthroughs/testing, audit requests and deficiency evaluation
  • Prepare executive management and audit committee materials, highlighting overall SOX progress and results
  • Build a team of internal company resources focused on addressing team concerns and issues; cross-train the team on business and IT controls testing
  • Participate in process reviews and identify opportunities for significant enhancements in operational efficiency, overall effectiveness and identifiable benefits to the company
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities, including interviewing, hiring and training employees, planning, assigning and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems

What you need to succeed at XPO:

At a minimum, you’ll need:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent related work or military experience
  • CPA, CIA and/or CISA certifications
  • 7 years of experience in a Big Four firm and/or internal audit
  • Experience with and proficiency in Microsoft Office and Windows applications

It’d be great if you also have:

  • Experience in project management practices, including tooling and managing projects through the SOX life cycle
  • Knowledge of 2013 COSO framework and experience applying the framework in a manner that supports SOX compliance and operational efficiencies
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills; ability to present clean, organized and thorough information and data appropriate for intended audience
