As the Lead Writer, Executive Communications, you will take ownership of a consistent style across all of our written materials and be responsible for maintaining it on all platforms.

 

Please note that this position is in scope to transition to the brokered transportation services company that will be created with the planned separation of XPO’s North American Transportation business from its less-than-truckload (LTL) business. What you’ll do on a typical day:

  • Produce and edit written materials in a variety of formats, ensuring consistent tone and style
  • Possess the interpersonal skills to collaborate across business units with a diversity of leaders in various functions
  • Deliver on multiple projects in a fast-paced, results-driven environment
  • Govern our copy assets, ensuring all are up-to-date and representative of our brand

What you need to succeed at XPO:

At a minimum, you’ll need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Writing, Communications, or a related field
  • 4 years of experience in content production, editing or financial communications

It’d be great if you also have:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), and MS Project
  • A well-read copy of The Elements of Style by William Strunk Jr. and E.B. White
  • The ability to cover early mornings, evenings, and weekends; occasional travel
  • An intuitive understanding of The Associated Press Stylebook
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a bias to action
  • An innate understanding of how different styles appeal to different target audiences
  • The ability to stay motivated on your own with minimal supervision, and to work in a highly collaborative team environment
