What you’ll need to succeed as a Manager, Category Management at XPO:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, related work, or military experience
- 5 years of procurement or sourcing experience
- 2 years of managing multiple indirect categories and implementing category strategies
- 2 years of experience drafting, negotiating, and executing indirect services agreements
- Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, or related field
- CPSM and/or Lean Sigma credential

What you’ll do on a typical day:
- Develops and execute sourcing strategies to optimize cost, quality, and supplier performance across managed categories such as Professional Fees (HR, Finance, Consulting), Marketing & Communications, Risk, Insurance, Legal Services, Environmental Services, Business Process Outsourcing, Security, Temporary Labor, Office Supplies, Operating Supplies, MRO, Parcel Freight, Uniforms, Corporate Vending, Company Store, Facilities, Janitorial, Waste Management, Landscaping, Snow Removal, and Utilities.
- Develop and execute strategic sourcing initiatives across these assigned categories, targeting $6M in annual P&L savings through cost reductions and value creation. Leverage market intelligence and spend analysis to identify opportunities and establish category strategies.
- Conduct structured RFx processes and utilize eAuctions to drive competitive bids and deliver year-over-year cost improvements.
- Apply strong financial acumen and analytical skills to calculate hard savings, validate should-cost models, and ensure alignment with budget targets
- Drive cross-functional collaboration with stakeholders across procurement, operations, finance, and legal to ensure alignment on business needs and execution plans.
- Facilitate stakeholder engagement through a formal intake process, prioritization of activities, and clear communication strategies that support adoption and change management.
- Demonstrate the ability to lead through influence without formal authority, effectively navigating organizational dynamics to drive successful outcomes.
- Govern overall supplier performance by establishing a structured cadence of Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs) with strategic suppliers, implementing service level agreements (SLAs) and key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor and measure outcomes.
- Drive accountability through proactive supplier performance management, including root cause analysis, corrective action planning, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure suppliers consistently meet contractual obligations and performance expectations, while fostering strategic partnerships that support long-term value creation and operational excellence.
- Assess and manage third-party risk by developing robust business continuity plans and proactively monitoring supplier compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Champion supplier diversity and ESG initiatives to align sourcing practices with corporate responsibility goals. Implement risk mitigation strategies to reduce operational disruptions, minimize financial leakage, and strengthen supply chain resilience.
- Ensure supplier adherence to XPO standards through continuous oversight and collaboration with internal stakeholders.
