Network Analyst Intern

XPO is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Network Engineering Intern to join our Network Engineering team. This entry-level internship provides hands-on experience supporting enterprise-scale network infrastructure across a global logistics environment. The intern will work alongside experienced engineers to support routing, switching, security, wireless networking, and network automation initiatives.
This is an excellent opportunity for a student pursuing a degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field who is interested in gaining real-world experience with enterprise technologies including Cisco networking solutions, Palo Alto firewalls, and automation tools.
What you’ll need to succeed as a Network Analyst Intern at XPO
Minimum qualifications:
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Network Engineering, or a related field.
- Basic understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, routing, switching).
- Familiarity with networking concepts such as firewalls, VPNs, and wireless access points.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
Preferred qualifications:
- Exposure to Cisco networking equipment (CCNA coursework a plus).
- Basic understanding of Palo Alto firewalls or network security principles.
- Familiarity with scripting or automation (Python, PowerShell, or similar).
- Understanding of wireless networking standards (802.11).
- Interest in pursuing networking certifications (e.g., CCNA, PCNSE).
About the Network Analyst Intern job
What you’ll do on a typical day:
- Assist in configuring, monitoring, and troubleshooting enterprise network infrastructure (LAN/WAN environments).
- Support network hardware and software including Cisco switches, routers, and wireless controllers.
- Assist with firewall management and security policy review using Palo Alto Networks platforms.
- Participate in wireless network deployments, configuration, and optimization.
- Support network automation initiatives using scripting tools (e.g., Python, Ansible, or similar).
- Document network configurations, procedures, and standard operating processes.
- Monitor network performance and assist in identifying performance bottlenecks.
- Work with cross-functional IT teams to support operational and project-based initiatives.
- Participate in incident response and troubleshooting under guidance from senior engineers.
