As the Senior Manager, Category Management (Indirect), you will be responsible for developing and executing the category strategy for a portion of the indirect categories in support of XPO. You’ll also work within the defined strategic sourcing strategy to organize and complete the sourcing of products and services. What you’ll do on a typical day:
- Partner with stakeholders and lead category and commercial strategy; ensure strategy incorporates XPO’s long-range plans
- Develop and execute analysis supporting strategic and tactical category plans
- Complete moderately to highly complex analyses for assigned projects and identify category area business and product trends
- Define sourcing specifications and cost reduction objectives, implement negotiation strategies, and identify high impact sourcing-related solutions to meet/exceed business objectives
- Conduct requests for proposal, requests for information, requests for quotes and reverse auctions as required (all RFxs) through use of strategic sourcing platform tools
- Lead/facilitate sourcing projects through the full project lifecycle while managing and mitigating risk
- Lead the development of thorough master services and goods contracts in accordance with regulatory and legal requirements
- Build performance-based supplier relationships that lead to optimal pricing, quality improvements, process improvements and solutions delivery
- Identify and resolve weaknesses in development plan in primary and secondary suppliers; conduct strategic supplier quarterly performance reviews using supplier scorecards to develop continuous improvement initiatives and actions
- Assist in the development of company and department standards and manage within those as well as applicable laws to ensure ethical negotiation and to preserve procurement reputation of XPO
What you need to succeed at XPO:
At a minimum, you’ll need:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent related work or military experience
- 5 years of sourcing experience in the development and management of a supply base is required. Sourcing or category management experience within Indirect preferred.
- Demonstrated success including supplier development, responsibility for high-level multimillion dollar contracts and negotiations, leading/participating on multi-functional projects
- Project management experience
- Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), including creating complex formulas in Excel
It’d be great if you also have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain or related field
- CPSM and/or Lean Six Sigma experience
- Ability to collect and analyze financial market, business or technical information to draw conclusions and make educated recommendations impacting the sourcing plan or event
- Ability to facilitate/conduct large group meetings and deliver presentations for internal and external clients at all levels
- Ability to identify opportunities to increase accuracy, optimize resources and develop, recommend and implement solutions
- Experience with e-sourcing platforms and auctions
- Ability to develop insightful, value-added and actionable analyses with detailed explanations regarding drivers of those results; produce unambiguous, comprehensive and accurate interpretations
- Strong aptitude for understanding and analyzing large amounts of data from multiple sources; perform complex analysis of data, processes, policies, procedures and/or systems
- Ability to utilize a variety of interpersonal styles and communication methods to effectively adapt to new work structures, processes or cultures
