As the Principal Architect, Enterprise Architecture, you will be responsible for understanding business needs, driving requirements, proposing solutions and overseeing the successful implementation of enterprise-wide data exchange and system integration solutions. What you’ll do on a typical day:

  • Self-starter, working both independently and as part of a team, requires little or no guidance.
  • Design and deliver scalable solutions, covering all facets of the software development life cycle including development, runtime and operations
  • Understand business needs and translate them into actionable technology initiatives & architecture technology roadmap
  • Work closely with the product and functional teams to create delivery roadmap for platform engineering
  • Provide engineers with conceptual and logical designs; provide design guidance and guardrails to support the team during the delivery
  • Brings forward solution designs and recommendations for review and validation. Articulate the tradeoffs between time, cost, complexity, and quality when making decisions
  • Peer reviews solution designs and recommendations for validation
  • Conduct research on new and emerging technologies for practical application to business problems in the context of assigned work effort; Leads PoC’s, PoV’s to validate and demonstrate solution options
  • Develops technology strategies and publishes best practices and design standards
  • Define optimal design patterns and solutions for high availability and disaster recovery for applications
  • Evangelize and champion the architecture process, standards, outcomes and ongoing results
  • Oversee and review work products of others; coach others to promote knowledge sharing and professional growth

What you need to succeed at XPO:

At a minimum, you’ll need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Information Systems
  • 5 years of IT industry in the architecture domain
  • Show demonstrated experience in microservices, and event driven architectures
  • Show demonstrated expertise in Linux, Docker, GCP/AWS/Azure, Kubernetes (GCP/GKE desirable), Service Mesh (Istio desirable), API Management (Boomi or Apigee desirable)
  • Expert level understanding of messaging middleware, pub-sub architectures, asynchronous computing, and producer-consumer abstractions.

It’d be great if you also have:

  • Experience working in the transportation and freight services business domain is a plus
  • Hands on experience in C#, ASP. NET, .NET Core, .NET Framework, MVC, Web API, JS framework (jQuery, AngularJS), MS SQL Server, No SQL, REST, version control with Git
  • Functional understanding of CI/CD and automation tools (Team City, Octopus, Jenkins, Terraform)
  • Functional understanding of IT monitoring, logging, alerting, and general operations.
  • Solid understanding of enterprise authentication and authorization frameworks (OIDC, OAuth2, SAML, Fed, Kerberos etc.,) and RBAC/ABAC policies
