As the Director, Human Resources supporting the Fleet Maintenance, you will ensure the execution of Human Resources (HR) policies and strategic initiatives within the Fleet Maintenance Department, assist managers and employees with day-to-day HR activities and compliance, and work with leadership to ensure HR programs and initiatives are enhancing the delivery of business results. What you’ll do on a typical day:

  • Develop, implement and evaluate HR programs and supporting systems to ensure an integrated approach to all practices, policies and procedures
  • Actively engage new employees and facilitate an understanding of the culture, ethics and expectations
  • Leverage HR knowledge to gather insight and develop new programs to engage and retain employee population
  • Maintain the highest levels of confidentiality, professionalism, attention to detail and customer service
  • Develop inclusive strategies to reward and recognize employees
  • Provide input to the Talent Acquisition team on developing strategic workforce plans that focus on a diverse and equitable workforce and on recruitment and retention strategies
  • Establish and maintain trustworthy partnerships with employees through a dedicated focus to relationship-building
  • Design and develop an effective succession planning process to ensure management and professional readiness to meet the growth plans of the business
  • Provide support to the Vice President – Maintenance and his field based leadership team across the US as well as partner with field HR, Legal, Compensation, Corporate HR, Recruiting, L&D and other support functions to drive achievement of department goals
  • Enforce a performance-driven culture through the development and implementation of consistent performance management coaching and counseling techniques
  • Consult with and mentor managers on employee relations issues; ensure that appropriate corrective actions are consistently administered and provide leadership to assess, investigate, mediate and correct issues
  • Utilizes results from employee engagement surveys to ensure planned improvements are relevant

What you need to succeed at XPO:

At a minimum, you’ll need:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent related work or military experience
  • 7 years of relevant HR experience, including experience in project management, change management, Compensation, and HR strategy development
  • Experience with HRIS systems such as SuccessFactors

It’d be great if you also have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business, Communications or
  • Professional in Human Resources (PHR), Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) or other HR certification or designation
  • Availability to work a flexible schedule, including planned and unplanned overtime, which may include weekends; regular travel to field locations across the US
  • Availability to travel up to 50% of the time
