As the Director of National Sales, you will lead a team of National Account Executives, develop strategy and oversee management of pipeline accounts, increase XPO’s market share, achieve revenue and volume growth goals, and excel at performance management. We’ll capitalize on your years of experience growing accounts, building relationships and executing initiatives to build a bright future for yourself and XPO.

What you’ll do on a typical day:

  • Perform as the national sales leader with network wide impact; represent upper management and communicate direction to national account executives
  • Lead initiatives and targeted focus to grow revenue and profit with the portfolio of accounts managed by your team of national sales professionals
  • Directly supervise National Account Executives, including hiring staff, directing work, conducting performance reviews, coaching team, delivering disciplinary measures, making termination recommendations, etc.
  • Understand the industrial makeup and business activity as applicable; remain knowledgeable on the competition and their locations, scope of service, pricing actions, and competitive strengths and weaknesses
  • Utilize reporting tools provided (, BI, etc.) to monitor progress, analyze trends and revenue, and develop corrective strategies to achieve company goals
  • Train, teach, coach and mentor new national account executives with tailored development plans; guide, motivate and retain experienced and effective account executives
  • Develop and maintain multilevel customer relationships to uncover specific needs and behaviors of key decision makers, including targeted entertainment planning appropriate to the revenue volume, potential, profitability and buyer behavior of each customer account
  • Develop and maintain rapport with operations leadership and local sales leadership and ensure strong lines of communication; collaborate with National Sales VP on goals, customer concerns and customer strategies to meet company expectations for growth

What you need to succeed at XPO:

At a minimum, you’ll need:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent related work or military experience
  • 7 years of sales experience
  • Demonstrated success meeting sales goals in previous roles with a strong desire to win
  • National/corporate sales management experience; experience in supervisory or management role
  • Experience in transportation industry sales
  • A valid driver’s license

  • Availability to work evenings and weekends as necessary
