As the Project Manager, Technology, you’ll fulfill IT application development project responsibilities to ensure the successful implementation of Data solutions in support of XPO Logistics objectives. You’ll be the liaison between IT departments, business operations and internal business partners and partner with engineering leads to be responsible for the planning, execution, and delivery of complex initiatives spanning multiple software engineering teams. You will be helping to lead and organize extremely high visibility projects tied back to top priority initiatives. The teams are focused on building industry leading technology solutions to support top line Revenue growth through software engineering and data science. What you’ll do on a typical day:

  • Oversee the development roadmap and execution of deliverables on high visibility software engineering projects
  • Create project plans and monitor the project teams’ execution through the project lifecycle. Control project scope and enforce deadlines. Manage project dependencies, risks, and escalate to management when needed
  • Maintain key project documents and provide clear verbal/written communication to Technology Managers/Business Stakeholders including: Project Plan/Project Schedule, work estimate, testing and quality control plan/schedule, risk management plan, Training plan/schedule, change control process, Project templates, forms, and Jira/Confluence document storage locations, Other tools and templates as needed
  • Collaborate with upstream and downstream Technology and business teams to identify and document use cases, performance and capability requirements, and criteria for successful solution delivery
  • Mentor other team members on technical skills, best practices, problem solving approaches, and standard patterns used at XPO Logistics

What you need to succeed at XPO:

At a minimum, you’ll need:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent related work or military experience
  • 1 year of direct Agile Project Management experience in a fast-paced software development environment
  • Strong verbal and written communication including presentations, facilitation, and active listening skills
  • Excellent time management skills with ability to organize, negotiate and prioritize regular workload, special tasks and concurrent projects, ensuring that work is completed accurately and efficiently within established time frame

It’d be great if you also have:

  • Scrum Master experience
  • 3 years of hands-on experience interacting and working cross-functionally with Software Engineering teams and business stakeholders
  • Familiarity with JIRA, Confluence and Slack
  • Passionate, self-motivated; works with a sense of urgency under minimal supervision
  • Team oriented and strong interpersonal skills. Consults with management and team members as needed to complete assigned responsibilities
