Need something exciting, that’s going to keep you on your toes? Here at XPO, we’re looking to hire an professional and personable individual to join us as a Trainee Transport Operator. This is a full-time, permanent role for our site based in Gloucester. As a Transport Operator you’ll be supporting in delivering day to day transport operation tasks. Shift times for this role is Mon - Fri 3pm-12pm
Pay, benefits and more:
We’re looking to pay up to £33,502 per annum. In addition, we offer 25 days holiday (plus bank holidays), as well as the option to buy additional days. You’ll have access to a variety of high street discounts, as well as a cycle to work scheme, a workplace pension, and many other benefits.
What you’ll do on a typical day:
- Support the Operations Manager with day to day operations
- Complete plans for Trunking on a daily basis
- Have face to face contact with driver colleagues & plan their work
- Fully Debrief XPO drivers at end of their shift and close their manifests
- Ensure delivery paperwork is filed & scanned correctly
- Ensure that Tachomaster is kept up to date.
- Ensure that drivers tachograph cards are downloaded at the end of the shift and generate infringement reports
- Ensure that all XPO vehicles on site are downloaded at least once a week.
- Complete and submit RTW paperwork
- Support with ensuring that all vehicle / trailer / training files are kept accurate and up to date.
- Complete any other duties allocated by the on-site Management Team
Holiday Cover/Peak Periods
- Support the Traffic Operators where required during busy periods.
- Cover all duties of Traffic Planning duties during absence

- Essential: A degree of flexibility to support the team/business needs. ie. holiday or sickness cover.
- Essential: Excellent communication skills – you’ll be speaking regularly with various stakeholders
- Essential: Good understanding of Microsoft packages including Excel and Outlook
