Lead Communication

 The position is responsible for developing and deploying communications to promote the company brand and logistics services to all audiences – customers and prospects, employees and candidates – through all communication channels.


He/she will be working on developing and implementing the local communication plan, in close collaboration with the business and European counterparts, with whom the candidate will also support pan-European communication campaigns. He/She will be the first point of contact for all communications queries – both internally and externally for the country.


He/she will manage the local communications team (planning; animation; coordination). 



  • Develop the communication plan for the country, in collaboration with your business partners (managing director; business development director; human resource director) and the local and corporate communication team, own the plan and implement it – including external and internal communications
  • Build, together with the business development director, specific sector marketing plans to build pre-pipeline; implement digital marketing campaigns in line with sector-specific plans
  • Build a media relations plan according to the country comms plan and in line with the corporate strategic plan, and ensure implementation of the plan  
  • Build an internal communications strategy in line with business and human resources strategy
  • Provide strategic and tactical counsel and support to designated business stakeholders to foster their internal communications presence, together with internal communications lead
  • Develop content (texts, videos, photos) in close collaboration with corporate team, to be circulated through different channels – earned or owned media
  • Support the company’s corporate communication team to collect stories from the countries for distribution via press releases, social media and corporate website
  • Ensure usage of branded templates and standards; coordinate and roll out the creation of marketing materials, in collaboration with the Graphic Designer, Europe
  • Keep track of events, exhibitions and roundtables in line with marketing strategy; identify speaking opportunities and develop associated messages and presentations; ensure follow up after participation (data collection on participants, thank you notes, etc.); track ROI
  • Organize company hosted events (digital and/or physical events)
  • Support company’s corporate communication team to manage corporate website updates on a quarterly basis (website monitoring, review and translations)
  • Drive communication of success stories, best practices and general communication throughout our internal organization using email, townhalls, workplace and other channels
  • Support the implementation of pan-European campaigns for employee engagement (translations, local leadership buy-in, circulation, etc.)
  • Set tools and processes with HR and IT teams to ensure consistent access to information throughout the organization



  • Define objectives for each local communication team members, evaluate progress made during annual reviews
  • Ensure information sharing with local communication team members
  • Engage local communication team members to foster team spirit and cohesion



What you need to succeed at XPO:

At a minimum, you’ll need:

  • Bachelor’s or master degree or equivalent.
  • 10+ years professional experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in [country language] and in English.
  • Experience working in an international environment
