As the Vice President, Operations, you will be responsible for the success of the total customer experience, including oversight for the overall direction, service, financial performance, and future growth for the business units. What you’ll do on a typical day:

  • Manage P&L for customers, driving both top-line and bottom-line growth
  • Oversee and optimize operational processes, including sales incentive programs, customer and carrier contractual agreements, key employee hires and IT applications for employees
  • Develop and execute high-growth financial plans, and monitor & report on performance against plan; use financial discipline to guide business decisions
  • Partner with leadership team to develop compelling sales and marketing initiatives that communicate XPO’s value proposition for the customer
  • Manage the successful execution of 4000+ loads planned/shipped per day via 200 sites nationwide both dedicated to customers and our Last Mile (LMH) network
  • Know and understand the territory, including competitors and social and economic trends impacting the territory, in order to identify and prioritize opportunities
  • Regularly monitor the regional performance against agreed upon performance commitments and initiatives, and identify and implement specific initiatives to address performance shortfalls
  • Create and sustain a high performing team through knowing and recruiting the best talent; maximizing skills, flexibility, and potential of the professional staff; and minimizing employee-initiated turnover through effective management and leadership

What you need to succeed at XPO:

At a minimum, you’ll need:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent related work or military experience
  • 10 years of experience in carrier development and management; delivery, distribution, and logistics; or facility management and warehousing

It’d be great if you also have:

  • Master’s degree in a business-related field
  • 5 years of supervisory experience
  • The confidence to take calculated risks, make strategic, results-oriented decisions and accept responsibility for the results (positive or negative)
  • Exceptional interpersonal and negotiation skills to deal effectively with individuals and groups both internally and externally; ability to lead, motivate and mentor team members
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to present clean, organized, and thorough information and data appropriate for intended audience
  • Available to work extended hours including weekends, and travel as needed
