What you’ll need to succeed as an Accounting Manager at XPO
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent related work or military experience
- CPA license
- 5 years of combination public accounting/industry experience
- 2-3 years of direct people management and mentorship experience
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, including advanced Excel skills with the ability to create pivot tables, use VLOOKUP as well as other analytical functions
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience working for a large, national publicly traded company. Experience in freight, transportation, or logistics industries a plus
- Technical accounting experience is a plus
- Experience with related systems such as Oracle, HFM, Blackline, Coupa, MRI Horizon (Prolease Enterprise) and Oracle Close Manager
- Strong analytical and organization skills
- Strong communication skills
- Comfortable prioritizing multiple work streams across daily responsibilities and long-term projects
- Must be team oriented; enjoys working with colleagues at all levels of the organization

What you’ll do on a typical day:
- Hands-on manager responsible for many aspects of accounting, reporting, and compliance, including but not limited to: facilitation of the end-to-end process of the financial close, preparing and reviewing journal entries, account reconciliations, and trend/flux analysis during month end close.
- Supervise, train and develop senior and staff accountants on various accounting concepts and best practices
- Prepare/review requests from external and internal auditors, prepare/review technical accounting memos, among others
- Lead process documentation and enhancement efforts
- Actively partner with Finance, Operations and other department colleagues to perform required monthly controls and analysis, and build effective processes.
- Ensure SOX compliance
- Provide support to accounting/finance management and internal customers as needs arise, including ad-hoc projects
