GENERAL DESCRIPTION: If you love working with databases and interest in performance monitoring, tuning and stability; this role could be for you. The role requires working extensively with Oracle databases. This role provides focusing on SQL queries, plan review and database administration, The Database administrator is responsible for daily monitoring of SQLs performance, up-time. This role drives resolution to technical issues.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Candidate should have 3+ years of experience
  • Monitor SQL performance and tuning (plan, baselines, profiles)  40%
  • Develop PL/SQL Procedures/Packages and automation 20%
  • Manage deployment of DDL/DMLs to the database   10%
  • Familiar with CICD concepts 10%
  • Assists application developers with SQL review 10%
  • Database administrator activities needed for high availability 10%

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • This Job has no supervisory responsibilities but in special circumstances may lead the work of others

DECISION-MAKING RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • This Job requires independent decision-making and recommendations within the context of assigned task, and work with application development team

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Oracle Database certification preferred
  • Expertise in Oracle technologies, OCI, Exadata experience, Familiarity with monitoring tools like OEM ( 2+ years )
  • Strong proficiency with SQL, Oracle partitioning and knowledge of Oracle PL/SQL (2+ years)
  • Linux, shell scripting required (1+ year)

Technical Competencies / Computer Skills  –

  • Deep knowledge/experience in the following:  SQL, PL/SQL, Oracle, Unix,  DBA tasks.
  • Experience with monitoring tools like OEM and SQL Tuning
  • Data modeling skill and use of Entity-Relation (ER) tool is good to have.
  • MSSQL database administration ( good to have )
  • Keeps current with emerging trends and database technologies.

Hours of Work/Travel

  • Extended hours including weekends (on-call).
