As the Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for designing equipment, analyzing modifications, managing projects and producing documentation for the trailer manufacturing process. If you’re ready to build a career you can be proud of—we have the opportunity for you to grow with XPO.

What you’ll do on a typical day:

  • Design and implement cost-effective equipment modifications to help improve safety and reliability
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop project specification
  • Develop, test and evaluate theoretical designs
  • Discuss and solve complex problems with manufacturing departments, subcontractors, suppliers and customers; ensure product can be made reliably and will perform consistently in specified operating environments
  • Plan and design new production processes; produce details of specifications and outline designs
  • Design new tooling and fixtures, and make product design changes
  • Recommend modifications following prototype test results; consider the implications of issues such as cost, safety and time constraints
  • Develop detailed product documentation for use on the production line; check all engineering documentation for accuracy, quality and completeness

What you need to succeed at XPO:

At a minimum, you’ll need:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work or military experience
  • 1 year of experience in machined parts, sheet metal, weldments, assemblies or related

It’d be great if you also have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology or related field
  • 2 years of Inventor and AutoCAD Mechanical experience, including modeling and detailing
  • Experience analyzing and solving problems with electrical, mechanical and pneumatic devices
  • Skills in mathematical modeling and computer-aided design
